This blog is about my struggles trying to get my 38 year old body looking fit, toned and shapely. I am a Firm Believer that even us more mature chicks can look hot – it just might take a little more work! I workout using at-home workouts and fitness DVDs (primarily The Firm). I also enjoy eating a low-carb lifestyle because I believe limiting carbs such as grains, pasta, sugar, etc leads to better health and easier weight maintenance. Join me on my quest! Email Me
Here's just a brief overview of my struggles with weight. I basically maintained my weight throughout my 20's but when I had my daughter at age 29 weight loss then became a struggle. Over the course of about 5 years I allowed my weight to balloon up to 210 lbs (I am 5'6"). I decided enough was enough and I lost the weight by severely restricting my diet. I learned that wasn't the healthiest route to take so I experimented with many diet plans. Through learning Intuitive Eating I have adjusted my "all or nothing" mentality somewhat. I have learned that a lifestyle I can live with AND maintain my weight is essential for good health. For my body I find that a controlled carb way of eating is the best. I am able to maintain (or lose) weight and I have so much more energy.
So by utilizing a low-carb lifestyle and exercise (primarily The Firm DVDs) I managed to get my weight down to about 157 lbs. Well we recently moved and the stress (plus incorporating Intuitive Eating) brought my weight up to a staggering 173 lbs. I've gained 16 lbs in just a few months! This blog is about my
attempts success in losing weight before I turn 40! I'll be 39 on 12/27/68 so I have enough time to achieve this goal!
