Heart Attack Risk

My mother had a sudden heart attack at the age of 48 and luckily got help in time to save her life. The risk of a heart attack can apply to anyone but especially if you are overweight and smoke. Sudden Cardiac Arrest kills thousands of people a year and the heart attack can come on without any warnings. Take the time to learn about your risks! I am starting to research this a lot more due to the fact that I will be turning 40 in December – ugh!!

More Detox

This article is a good explanation of the benefits of colon cleansing. In addition to colon cleansing I have read that fasting and dry brushing are also very good at cleansing the body and detoxing. I recently got a dry brush but I have to admit I have been pretty inconsistent in using it. Usually by the time I get to take a shower I am usually rushed. I am going to start this week. Who knows if it really works but it sure doesn't hurt and also helps to exfoliate. I have also read that it helps with cellulite. Ugh I need help with that!

Detox

Instead of cleaning my house this morning I have spent the entire time reading articles and forums on weight loss and health. I’ve been researching the benefits of a colon cleanse. This is an important step to detoxing your body and getting rid of waste. Remember that waste = weight! Apparently, many toxins build up in our intestines and colon so it is important to cleanse. The buildup of refined sugars, white flour – basically junk food can create a clogged colon. Colon cleansing and detox restore balance to the body so that you look and feel better. I have wanted to do this for months but haven’t gotten around to it – lame excuse I know. Especially after the stomach flu I had this week I think it’s important for me to detox!

Ephedra

I went over to my sister’s house last night for a few Friday Night cocktails. We had wine and seltzer – yummy! For snacks she had cheese and turkey pepperoni. We spent the entire night talking about our progress and goals with our weight loss. We have both lost a decent amount since Thanksgiving but man it is coming off slowly for both of us. We both want to lose about 15 lbs more and it slow!

Kelley used to take diet pills with ephedra and she loved them. She never had any side effects but they helped her lose her pregnancy weight after having her first 2 kids. She still had to watch what she ate but the ephedra helped to take “the edge off” (as she puts it). I know that for awhile you couldn’t get ephedra so I took a look online last night to see if they are available today. I found Lipodrene with Ephedra and sent her the info. I haven’t talked to her yet to see if she’s going to try it. I never had much luck with any diet pill. I am just awful with consistently taking pills – even vitamins!

Stomach Flu

On Tuesday after having drinks at my sisters my stomach was feeling weird. Actually it was feeling weird (neauseus) all day but I figured it was ketosis. After talking to my sister I realized I had gotten the stomach virus that had spread through her household last week. Everyone in the house got it. I have had worse stomach flus than this one but it knocked me out of commission yesterday. I layed on the couch and watched reality shows all day (Shear Genius). I wonder if that show has been cancelled?? I only ate saltines - not low carb but I couldn't handle anything else. Obviously I didn't workout either. Chris even drove Evie to school - first time this year!

Tanning

I sure can’t believe that summer is right around the corner. My daughter is on Spring break this week so I know that summer is coming soon! Last year I was so stupid and decided to tan. I haven’t done that in years but they have these new lights that are suppose to be healthier for your skin. Hum … I am not convinced. The thing about tans is that they make you look so much thinner! Amazingly thinner. But I am not going to risk it anymore. I am 39 this year and just can’t afford anymore wrinkles or sagging. This year I am going to use an all natural spf 30+ Zinc Oxide Sunscreen and use self-tanner on top. The tanning salon does do the spray tans which my mother did last year and it turned out very nice.

Stay Young!

My sister and I were going through old pictures last night looking for hair styles. I was looking through her wedding album (she had a small beach wedding with only a few people) and I couldn’t believe how young I looked. I was 27 so that was almost 12 years ago. I want my skin to look like that again LOL.

So from hair we moved onto skin. Taking great care of your skin and eating and exercising is the best way to stay young looking. So last night I set off to find more info regarding skin. Skin Dimensions Online has a huge selection of high quality natural skincare products. So take a look if you are in the market for new skincare products. Consistency and regular use of natural products has really helped my skin. I wish I had taken better care of it when I was in my 20’s!

Too Tired!

I have been feeling so tired lately even to the point of laying down in the afternoon. I think a lot of it is due to my having the flu a few weeks ago. I just can’t seem to get back to my normal self. My sister has been nagging me to start taking vitamins – even just a multivitamin to help with my energy level. I have to do more research into which supplements I should be using – another thing to add to my ‘to do’ list. I will definitely buy my supplements online since it is so much cheaper.

Online Canadian Pharmacy has a large inventory of medications and natural health supplements. I don’t live in Canada but if you do this seems like a good resource for filling prescriptions or ordering natural supplements.

Colon Cleanse with Low Carb

I have been reading a lot of forums lately regarding refeeds and cyclical ketogenic dieting principles. I have heard a lot of references to people doing a colon cleanse when starting the diet. As you probably know, keeping things moving on a low-carb diet is a challenge. I really want to try it but I am a bit nervous to do so right before the holidays. I think I am going to order a colon cleanse product after the holidays. Maybe it will also help me to clear out my system of all the icky foods that I am sure I will indulge in over the holidays.

Bird Flu

Watching the news can sometimes be a bit depressing yet it is important for ones health and safety to stay informed. Sometimes I think we are given a bit too much information but that is another blog post. I was reading a report from Reuters that said “Pakistan says no threat of bird flu pandemic”. Man I hope that is true. We eat so much turkey and chicken so if the Bird Flu got over here we would be in trouble. I haven’t read a lot about this Bird Flu (or Avian flu) but what I do know is that it is rare yet deadly. The link above provides a free ebook about Bird Flu – all you need to do is register.
